TP-Link Battery Powered Wireless N Router review

The TP-Link Battery Powered Wireless N Router (model TL-MR3040) offers the ability to plug in a 3G USB device or an ethernet cable to offer Internet service to multiple devices.
The ability to have a wireless N router than can run wired or while connected to a 3G USB stick caught my interest. As I travel constantly, I had good luck with the TP-LINK TL-WR700N Wireless N150 Portable Router/AP/Client/Bridge/Repeater Modes already. So here are my thoughts.

First verify your 3G USB modem is supported. Update the firmware as required. The firmware loaded on the received package needed updating to support more modems. Using it plugged in is ideal for longevity and performance. I had no issues there with multiple devices connected. Now in battery mode time will vary based on how much traffic and how many devices are connected. Keep in mind it is powering both the 3G USB modem and accepting connections so you are asking a lot for hours of battery. I always had a good hour usage when in battery mode doing normal browsing (no streaming video) and one or two devices attached.
The TP-Link device is very light, had good indicator lights on the top and was easily recharged. I used it connected to an ethernet cable at a hotel more than once with great success. Finding some international 3G USB modems supported was more of an issue. I imagine in time those will also gain support.
I appreciate that TP-Link places all the cables you need in their sleek packaging. From ethernet to usb and the wall adaptor it was all present.
