Kango Gift for IBM Connections

Kango Gift has created embeddable widgets for IBM Connections that allow people to give you gift cards as employee recognition from their cloud based platform.
First, how does Kango Gift make their money? You can either choose a free plan, up to 25 users, and only pay a small fee for each gift card. Or you can pick the company plan for $2/user a month plus the small fees associated with giving the cards. The small per gift fee is not disclosed anywhere I can find on the site.
I was not happy with the lack of FAQ or support or disclosure of fees on the site itself but it makes sense that is how they make money outside of the per user subscription.
Now that we tackled the technical information, or lack thereof, how about the idea of the monetary rewards from other people you work with? Would this give additional strain for you to use your own money (or maybe it is hooked to a company account) to give to other people for work they did? We are not talking bonuses or incentives, but just simple thank you gifts. Then these widgets and Kango Gift allow each person a rewards page and the ability to post to their stream.
Does the worry of not giving gifts put a strain on the professional relationship? How about the worry you have never received any and shared it publicly? Would someone fear their job may be at risk for NOT being recognized.
Share your thoughts, I am curious what you think about the idea of non-bonus related recognition and public sharing
Update: I would also like to consider why they don't charge the per user fee on smaller installs where they are less likely to get the card service fees they tack on. I do not see a 10,000 seat company wanting to pay $20k/month just to have the service. Also is the per user fee based on the recipients, senders or just everyone? I could find none of this on the website.
