Ok is it an application or database or now both?

I had my posting yesterday on the licensing of the IBM Xwork Server in regards to the system databases and found myself trying to explain something else in the document I am writing. The terminology used by Lotus to define what we have known for years as a database. Starting in Version 8 the UI changed and what we knew as Notes databases became applications.
With the release of the IBM XWork Server, we now refer to a collection of databases as applications for licensing requirements.
Licensees of the Program are authorized to utilize up to a maximum of four (4) Domino applications per installation of the Program, up to a maximum of eight (8) applications. Such applications are authorized to contain up to a maximum of four (4) databases per installation of the Program, up to a maximum of eight (8) databases within each application. This excludes system databases that accompany the Program.
So an application is a collection of Notes databases.
Yes I know this is all vernacular, but I want to easily state this to customers per how the server will be licensed and ran. I know we are caught in a cross between old and new models and I know terminology needs to be updated. I am not sure of what the final wording should be, but either removing databases since it is not used anymore, or a new name for a collection of applications (which is the new name for databases).
