IBM Notes and Domino 9 launches public beta

IBM raced ahead of schedule to release IBM Notes and Domino 9 into public beta as of today. With the public beta everyone can get their hands on what is to become the must have client and server compared to every previous release. (We always say that though). Look for some of the following features:
Activity streams: allow you to view and take action quickly on content and eventsLotus Traveler will also get some added support for BlackBerry BES 10, Windows phone 8 and iSeries.
- Embedded Experiences: allow you to access business critical actions from other applications without leaving your email. This brings collaboration in-context and results in tighter integration across iNotes, Connections, Notes, app dev (XPages), and 3rd-party products and services
- Contemporary user interface, simpler navigation, easier to locate information both in Notes and iNotes
- IBM Notes Browser Plug-in: allows rapid delivery of IBM Notes Social Edition applications to the web
- Incorporation of a social application container, based on the OpenSocial standard, which provides for development of a reusable set of “gadgets” from both IBM and third parties
I have already downloaded the server from the public site and client installs and everything installed easily and is running smoothly. I have plenty of commentary to come on different areas as we go along and I think they should be posts for each one.
The server code is available in both 32-bit and 64-bit for Windows, Linux and AIX. There is also iSeries. Lotus Traveler for Linux, Windows and iSeries is also there.
I would get the test servers and clients ready to see what IBM will talk about at IBM Connect 2013 and Lotusphere.
