IBM Notes 9 introduces new calendaring and scheduling (C&S) back end classes

Another winner for not only programmers but users as IBM Notes 9 introduces new calendaring and scheduling (C&S) back end classes using iCalendar.
a framework and first set of methods will be available for a Java API exposing Domino
calendar and scheduling functionality. These provide the ability to create, read, update, and remove
calendar data in a personal mailfile using standardized iCalendar (RFC 5545) data format. They also
allow explicit calendar actions on calendar entries and notices (accept, decline, cancel, etc).
I have been wanting expanded ICalendar support to offer more integration choices with other calendaring systems. This seems to be a great move.
IBM does have articles on integrating IBM Lotus Notes 8.5 iCalendar as shown in the linked image above to developerWorks.
In Lotus Notes 8.5, new features were implemented, such as compatibility mode and Lotus Notes registration as a calendar handler, to improve iCalendar interoperability between Lotus Notes and Microsoft® Outlook or between Lotus Notes and other mail clients..
Does your company want and need iCalendar integration?
