D-Link Cloud Router 3000 review

The D-Link Cloud Router 3000 is a dual band Gigabit router with four Lan ports and a USB share port for streaming an attached storage device. All across two wifi bands

The dual bands gives you 450Mbps across both the 2.4 Ghz and the 5Ghz ranges providing a total 900Mbps total throughput via the wifi. An added guest network right out of the box helps provide separation and some added security.
With the dual band capability and the gigabit connected ports we immediately saw an increase in speeds throughout the house when sharing movies and streaming them to things like the XBox, iPad or Roku. We connected a 500GB USB drive as a test (the maximum allowed) and used their free mobile apps and mobile devices to stream content.
I connected three pieces of equipment that had gigabit network cards and saw incredibly fast throughput. Remember you can only go as fast to the Internet as your provider allows but you will definitely see the performance inside your home or business.
Setting up the guest network was simple. Advanced features like port forwarding and blocking MAC addresses was simple. We put devices on both bands and definitely saw an increase in speeds as they no longer fought across the same to stream and do simple tasks like email and web browsing.
As you see in the video we never saw the older claims of heat. I believe that these were older models since it has been years since those were posted. I used a thermometer in the video to show you.
The mydlink cloud management solution was nice but I personally will not use it much. I have all my files and more already out in the cloud and do not see moving them back locally to then share using that feature. But it did set up easily and worked fine on some small test files.
D-Link provides a free mobile app that allows you to stream and share files as well as manage the the router via their Mobile Cloud App.
