Guest Blogging - Birthday, Relief Efforts
Tags :General
Hope everyone wished Chris a happy birthday
over the weekend, while he was on vacation.
Also happy birthday to Alan
Lepofsky (they share a birthday!).
We'll be back to your regularly scheduled Notes/Domino advice soon (at
the latest when Chris is back), but since Chris was talking about how Connectria
is helping the Katrina victims in his last posts on Friday, I thought I'd
continue in that theme and talk about a very few of the interesting relief
efforts. You probably all know about the basics: give to the Red Cross,
volunteer your time if you're local in Houston, etc. But here are some
folks who're getting creative:
- KatrinasHalf.com is a site started by our good friend Rocky, who's hoping that anyone who wins a bundle in a lottery will give half to helping victims of Katrina.
- Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon are opening their home in Oklahoma and coordinating efforts specifically geared toward the sci-fi fan/gamer victims. (via Neil Gaiman). (Mercedes' site is here.)
- Play Poker much? Wil Wheaton talks about some charity tourneys at PokerStars.
