RSS and Websphere Portal integration
I came across information on people embedding
RSS feeds (from KnowNow)
into WebSphere portal as a way to communicate with employees. Without
their knowledge that feeds were being pushed down. The goal is to
streamline communication to employees, while eliminating some chances of
all 10,000 subscribing to the same news source. So instead, make
it a choice in the portal to subscribe to that comes from a central server.
That server in turn subscribes to numerous, yet controlled sources.
An excellent architecture idea. You
do that already for SMTP and mail flow in the enterprise. Why not
for other protocols as well? I know most of you in no way have IM
funneled, tunneled and controlled. It is like shopping in a Super
Wal-Mart with all the IM packages running in these companies.
I am using News Miner in Domino right now,
so I can replicate and start to keep up better with what RSS I want to
read. I am actually enjoying it. Thanks to twduff for the pointer
in that direction.
